Italy is the champion of the world! No, they didn't invade another country or bombed a building. They played soccer. Very straight, direct and concise. What a wonderful time to have Italian ancestry, for sure!

24 years ago, in Spain, Italy became the champion for third time. Now they defined the championship by penalties. Lets be honest, the best team won, even if it wasn't the most politically correct. Zidane buttheaded himself into the darkness of a locker room just to hear the cheerings of a stadium and 1.5 billion people asking why did he do it. That must have been hard for him and I feel sorry for his team. So there was the legend, the great Zidane, acting like a bully, even if Materazzi was one as well.
I am so happy I've been alive to see Italy becoming champion twice, I can't wait for the next world cup. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, lets rejoice and wipe the sweat out of our foreheads, for that was a tense final!
Yes, it could have been France. But this time the coin tossed for Italy's sake!
